Sponsored Kart Racer Tom brings home the Championship!

πŸπŸπŸ†Tom Holden #87 – Hooton Park 2023 Indi Kart+ Championship winner!!!πŸ†πŸπŸ

On the weekend of 11th & 12th November, STEM Construction’s sponsored racer Tom Holden secured a proud win in the 2023 Hooton Park Indi Kart plus Championship. We’re absolutely delighted for him!

The weekend marked Round 10 of the Championship, where the championship would be decided. Saturday practice went well for Tom, as he got more familiar with wet tyres which haven’t been used much this year, and never on the new kart chassis Tom was using to race.

Going into the weekend, Tom knew he only needed to finish a place behind his main competitor James Ollier to win the championship.

On Sunday, qualifying was first and Tom managed to take pole by just 0.001 seconds ahead of his championship rival. Going into the 1st corner from the inside was ideal in the wet. He was confident going into heat 1.

Went well, holding the lead for a while until Tom’s championship rival overtook him. Tom held on the 2nd place to the end of the race.

The second heat was a great battle, with many changes of lead. Tom held on to 2nd place, meaning that he would be starting the Final in 2nd place, on the outside.

Final – P2↔P2 (go to video 1hr 24mins)

Starting in 2nd, the race started and the top 3 racers pushed away. Knowing all he had to do was come 2nd, Tom stuck to his objective. He was able to make a few moves on the leader but finished up 2nd overall… However, winning the championship by a single point!

Tom proved he had the pace all day andΒ made it happen in the final. He’s had a brilliant year and a brilliant championship.
