Talking to: Paul Hilditch, Site Manager

We sat down with Paul Hilditch, Site Manager to find out what makes him tick – on site, in the office and away from work.

What’s your role at STEM Construction?

I’m a Site Manager, making sure we’re managing the programmes effectively. I look after the daily running of our work out in the field, whatever that brings from site to site and day to day.

How did you find yourself working in Civil Engineering?

I fell into the industry at an early age… I’ve always enjoyed being involved in building things and seeing the finished job, so this industry suits me really well.

When you’re not at work, what can we find you doing?

I love watching football, sometimes out in the garden where I’ve built myself (and my friends, it seems!) a home bar. I like to take our dogs for a walk with my kids, and keeping the kids entertained is an important job.

What are your favourite shows?

I love a bit of radio in the car: In Demand Radio gets the blood pumping of a morning! On TV I’m a big fan of CSI and other cop shows, and I love a good thriller.

How would your best friend describe you?

He’d probably say I was outgoing, but a bit stubborn. I can’t disagree!

If you weren’t in your current role, what would you be doing?

That’s a tough question: I honestly don’t know. I always fancied travelling when I was younger and for a while I did want to join the army.

What’s the best thing about working at STEM Construction?

The other people I work with are the best thing about STEM. Everybody is different but they all have the same end result as a goal.
