Talking to: Michaela, our Office Manager
With office visits being a rarity in recent months, we’re sitting down with some of our team so you can get to know them a little better. This time it’s Michaela Frankland, our Office Manager.
Hi Michaela. Tell us what you do at STEM Construction
I look after the general work around the office. This includes the accounts as well as receiving our visitors. If you’ve received paperwork from us, there’s a good chance it came from me.
How did you find yourself working in a Civil Engineering business?
I was with my last company for nine and a half years, and saw that STEM Construction were advertising when I was looking for a new role. The office is local for me, which is really handy. It’s a totally different environment to what I’m used to, but I was ready for a new challenge!
When you’re not at work, what can we find you doing?
I’m usually listening to music, walking, drinking and eating out. I love going to the cinema so I’m hoping to catch up on some great movies again soon. Clothes shopping is always a favourite! I look after my grandchildren too, and love throwing family parties when I can. I recently got engaged, so my fiancé and I are doing plenty of wedding planning at the moment!
What are your favourite shows on TV or radio?
Smooth Radio – I love all the oldies, especially the 80’s, the best era ever! On TV I’m really enjoying Supernatural, with the Winchester boys.
How would your best friend describe you?
Fun, bonkers, bossy. And that I like to take the lead on nights out!
If you weren’t keeping everyone in check at STEM, what would you be doing?
I think I’d be in a very similar role elsewhere, as I’ve always been an office girl. I really enjoy working in an office environment, which I’ve done since I left school in 1985, starting out as an Office Junior.
What’s the best thing about working at STEM Construction?
Having a great boss!
The offices are very modern and up to date, and everyone is really friendly and helpful.
