Stabilisation of an earth embankment retaining the Bridgewater Canal

 

STEM Construction was appointed as Principal Contractor to:

• Provide and maintain site welfare facilities throughout the duration of the contract
• Development of Construction Phase Site Management Plan and site safety documents
• Site clearance of trees and vegetation along the slope and base of the embankment
• Installation of a proprietary plant access road solution for the full length of the embankment, spanning over large areas of wet and soft ground
• Procurement and management of specialist subcontractors to install 270nr soil nail anchors to a failing section of the earth embankment
• Excavation and installation of a new embankment toe drain to the full length of the embankment, excavation and disposal of the damaged existing drainage system
• Construction and installation of a new outfall headwall to the adjacent brook
